Fishing at Table Rock Lake
It might be snowing, but we are thinking of spring and it can’t be that far away! We are dreaming of beautiful weather and our plans for this summer! One of our favorite activities when we visit Table Rock Lake is taking our boys fishing. It’s fun to find a good spot on the lake for the afternoon and fish…our boys LOVE it!
The Dewy Short Visitor Center is a great spot. Admission is free and the views are gorgeous. The wall-to-wall glass windows and stunning decks make it a great spot to see the beauty of the lake. The visitor center has a children’s activity space and a small museum that showcases the history of the lake. Our family likes to walk along the Table Rock Lake shore trail at the visitor center and find a good place to stop and fish. There are lots of picnic tables for afternoon lunch spots as well.
Another location that we love is Long Creek Marina. There are plenty of places to fish at the Marina and there are several recreational activities to keep busy. The Marina offers boating, ski school, bowfishing, hiking and lots of wildlife viewing. The newly renovated Marina Store is equipped with boating supplies, fishing tackle, snacks, beverages and much more. The Marina is also opening a new swimming beach this summer and is sure to be a good time. Long Creek Marina is located just minutes from CedarWood Farmstead.
If your family loves fishing, you will enjoy visiting the Shepard of the Hills Fish Hatchery. The hatchery includes a free conservation center with different types of local fish on display. Our kids love walking through and feeding the fish. Trails are available near the hatchery for hiking and wildlife viewing and fishing access is provided as well. It’s an overall fun stop for the family. Click here for more information on area attractions.
