It’s All Happening!

My husband and I have loved taking our family on weekend trips to Table Rock Lake. We’ve been visiting the area for years. What started as a fun activity looking for real estate, quickly turned into a possibility when we stumbled across land that sounded too good to be true. I usually tell my husband NO, because his dreams are grand and most of the time waaayyy out of reach, but this time something was different. I had a good feeling about it too. THIS LAND WAS a STEAL!

What’s the catch? I thought there had to be a catch. So, we packed up and took our kids on a little weekend trip to Big Cedar. We went out to look at the land and it was BETTER than we thought. It was five minutes from Top of the Rock and Big Cedar Lodge. It was roughly 15-20 minutes from other big area attractions in Branson and it was right down the road from a public Marina on the lake. I couldn’t believe I was saying go for it, but I was. I’ve made one other fast decision in my life and that was to go to K-State. That turned out to be the best decision of my life though because it was where our relationship started. That memory was surfacing in my mind and giving me faith that even though it was a fast decision, it was RIGHT! We both knew it!

The next day we put an offer on the land and it was quickly accepted! Before we knew it, we were in the process of meeting with builders and submitting paperwork to Taney County to become an approved nightly vacation rental. The following weeks were spent selecting our builder and waiting on pins and needles for the approval hearing with the county. We were nervous because while we were in the process of starting this business, the county was in the process of cracking down on nightly rentals as a measure to protect the hotel industry in the area.

In October 2018 we attended our public hearing at the Taney County Court House and we were APPROVED!! We were the last nightly vacation rental to be approved before the county made a motion to suspend the approval of nightly vacation rentals within the Branson city limits. By the skin of our teeth, we were in BUSINESS!

We’ve continued to move forward on building our vacation rental home and working as a husband and wife due on this project! It’s been fun, but not without a little stress! We are excited though, because with a little prayer and determination, we feel like our wild dream is becoming a reality!
